The Milwaukee Wave announced their 2014-15 regular season schedule earlier this week. The longest running professional indoor soccer franchise in the country, the Wave revealed that they will kick-off their thirtieth season in St. Louis on November 8 against the Ambush. The team’s first game of the year at the now-named UW-Milwaukee Panthers Arena won’t come until a month later, as they host the Ambush in Milwaukee on December 6.
Along with three decades together, the 2014-15 season also marks the Wave’s debut year in the newly formed Major Arena Soccer League. The MASL represents a merging of the former Major Indoor Soccer League and Premier Arena Soccer League, creating the single largest professional indoor soccer league in the Americas, comprising over 20 teams from the United States and Mexico. Familiar foes from the Wave’s past in their new league include rivals Baltimore Blast and last year’s MISL champions Missouri Comets.
First year head coach Giuliano Oliviero told reporters during the announcement that he is excited to lead the Wave into their inaugural year as part of the MASL. He added that a number of veteran players from last season’s playoff team would be returning in 2014, as well as a couple of new faces, including former head coach Keith Tozer’s son Alex Tozer.
